Parent & Tot Introduction to Sailing
Ages: 4-6 – Parent/Guardian required – no drop offs
A morning of fun with a little bit of sailing…. Parent & Tot is an easy introduction to sailing at our lakefront. Kids enjoy entertaining activities targeting rudimentary sailing skills both on and off the water along with a parent or guardian. This unique program will be a safe, interactive experience requiring one adult parent or guardian to accompany each student enrolled.
2017 Dates – There will be 2 classes this summer one held on Friday, June 30th and another on Friday, August 11th. Class time will be 9:30-11:00. See 2017 Calendar for additional details.
Class size -10 students maximum
Fee $ 50 payable to the Okauchee Lake Sailing School
Kids will join their guardian or OLSS instructor for a comfortable ride in our safe, simple Pram dinghies along our quiet lakefront. While ashore, groups will rotate through activity stations which include fun nautical lessons, games and crafts.
1. Seamanship: knot tieing, rope coil races, rolling sails, boat part label game
2. Teamwork: Bailer races, boat scavenger hunt, human knot, life jacket race, water relay
3. Sailing: Launching, sailing out while steering up down, “3t’s: tack-tiller-toward sail”, landing
4. Crafts: Drawing sailing experience,
•One parent or guardian per child to be actively involved with supervising and assisting the OLSS staff with the program.
•Student and guardian must each bring properly-fitting Coast Guard approved life jacket
